The South Dakota Chamber will be hosting the 36th Annual Business Day at the Legislature Thursday, February 23, 2012 at the Ramkota RiverCentre in Pierre.

2012 Business Day at the Legislature Agenda:

11 AM     Legislative Briefing by State Chamber President David Owen

12:15 PM    Business Day Luncheon featuring guest speaker Peter Pellerito, Interim VP of State Government Relations & Alliance Development for the Biotechnology Industry Organization in Washington, DC, and managing director of PMP Life Science Consulting in the Research Triangle Park, North Carolina

12:15 PM    Optional Young Professional's Luncheon with guest speaker

1:30 PM    8th Annual Business Caucus Program featuring a guest emcee

The remaining afternoon hours are open for time at the Capital

5:30 PM    Economic Developer's Reception and Manufacturer's Digital Showcase.  Join statewide leaders at a reception co-sponsored by the State Chamber and local economic development offices and view a digital showcase of the South Dakota manufacturing industry

6:30 PM    Business Day Banquet with the evening's special guest - Motivational speaker and former Montana Governor Judy Martz

Judy Martz was elected as Montana's first female Governor on November 7, 2000.  Just four years earlier, she was elected as the state's first female Lieutenant Governor when she ran with Governor Marc Racicot.  Prior to that time she was a motivational speaker, a profession she returned to after her time in office.

Governor Martz was born in Big Timber, Montana, to ranching parents.  She graduated from Butte High School in 1961, and attended Eastern Montana College.  She was a member of the 1963 U.S. World Speed Skating Team, and a member of the U.S. Olympic Speed Skating Team at the 1964 Winter Games.

The Chairwoman of the Business Day program is Dawn Morris of Morris, Inc. in Fort Pierre.  Morris is also chair of the State Chamber Board of Directors.  Business Day at the Legislature provides a forum for business and community leaders across the state to come to Pierre and participate in activities that pertain to the legislative process.

Registration:  Full registration for the day (programs, luncheon, reception and dinner) is $80 if paid on or before February 15, and $85 after February 15.  Early registration for the reception and banquet only is $65 for those received on or prior to February 15, and $70 after that date.  Registration for the morning session, luncheon and Business Caucus only is $40.
