Business Day at the Legislature

AGENDA:  Business Day registration will begin at 11 AM, with the first event being the 12 noon luncheon.  Governor Dennis Daugaard has been invited to address the audience at noon and we anticipate confirmation from the Governor’s scheduler within a week.  Following lunch, State Chamber President David Owen will give his Legislative Update as part of the annual Business Caucus (audience response) program.  We will be using a new technology called PollEverywhere that will allow participants to vote using their smart phones, tablets or laptops.  At 2:45 PM, attendees will be encouraged to visit the Capitol and view the legislature in session.  We are working to schedule presentations by Cabinet level speakers starting at 3:15 PM at the Capitol.   Topics targeted for the briefings are economic development and revenue.

The Economic Developer’s Reception will begin at 4:45 PM at the Ramkota and will include our annual digital display of manufacturing members.  The manufacturing industry is a key component to the state’s economy and this event provides an opportunity to showcase their contributions.  The banquet follows at 5:45 PM.  Our evening’s speaker will be Malcom Chapman, The Chapman Group, Rapid City.  The topic of Mr. Chapman's presentation is The Power of Public Private Partnerships.
