South Dakota Business Caucus Results
Business Caucus 2011

Dear Members,

At the link below, you will find the questions and results for the 7th annual Business Caucus held during the Chamber's Business Day at the Legislature. During Business Caucus chamber members and guests are asked multiple choice questions and they select answers using wireless keypads. The results are then instantly displayed on the screen.

Business Caucus provides valuable insights to the thoughts and the businesses represented by those in attendance. It is important to note that this is not a scientific survey, the participants are self-selected. The value in these responses is best viewed as snapshot on a specific day with a large focus group.

May Not Represent Chamber Positions. The Chamber Board of Directors uses many tools to establish positions on issues including surveying members, conversations with associates and notes taken during tours around the state before each legislative session. The results of Business Caucus are only one factor used by the Board in determining the official advocacy of the Chamber. Determining positions on issues is the sole responsibility of the Board.

Business Caucus focused on many of the topics being debated during this legislative session. You will also find some interesting data about these businesses including how many of them are addressing the current economic conditions. You will find some insights to some of the state's most vexing issues like the budget and taxes and you will find some rather lighthearted options mixed among the answers.

The Chamber is proud to conduct the state's only legislative business caucus and while the results may not be a scientifically valid reflection of the opinions of all business people, it is a true reflection of the opinions of some of the leading industries in South Dakota.
